Welcome to Kim’s Pastime, a personal blog about whisky, bars, and the small joys of pursuing hobbies thoughtfully.
I’m Kim, a university student based in Seoul, South Korea, writing about the things that occupy my time outside the lecture hall. What began as private notes on bottles I’d opened and bars I’d visited has grown into this blog — a place to organize what I’ve learned and share it with anyone curious about the same subjects.
The blog covers a few interconnected areas:
- Whisky reviews — Tasting notes, scoring, and honest impressions of bottles I’ve actually opened, written without industry obligations.
- Bar visits — Reports from bars I’ve genuinely been to, in Korea and abroad, including practical details such as reservations, atmosphere, and what to expect.
- Whisky education — Background pieces on history, production, age statements, storage, and the cultural and economic context surrounding the spirit.
- Product reviews — Occasional write-ups on tools, tech, and other purchases that play a role in how I spend my time.
This is not a sponsored or commercial publication. Reviews reflect my own purchases, my own visits, and my own opinions. If that ever changes for a particular post — for example, in the case of a sponsorship or an affiliate link — it will be clearly disclosed within the post itself.

Thank you for reading.
